Sciatica

This is a very common spinal condition that affects around 30% of the population, and in severe cases resulting in significant back and leg pain in the distribution of the sciatic nerve. The cause is often a lumbar disc protrusion which can be diagnosed rapidly, managed effectively and sometimes surgery is indicated. This can be done using various minimally invasive techniques, via microdiscectomy using the microscope, with overall minimal trauma to surrounding tissues using a small (1-2cm) incision.
