Syringomyelia

Special interest in syrinx pathology, which is an expansile and elongated cyst or cavity within the spinal cord, that can present incidentally or with a range of symptoms including weakness, sensory disturbance, pain and co-ordination problems. Management is catered to the individual patient and importantly the cause of the syrinx formation, which rarely requires surgery on the syrinx itself, with CSF diversion procedures.
